In the Product Roadmap blog, we have used words like Features, User Stories, Backlogs, Epics, and Sprints. It basically comes under Agile Methodologies. Agile is a project management approach that has multiple benefits. Project Management is very important in Product Management because while managing the product, the Product Manager has to follow some principles and approaches in order for better and efficient measures.
Project Management has predominantly 2 approaches:
Waterfall Approach
Agile Approach
Waterfall Approach:
This method of Project Management is interlinked with all other processes. While developing the project, if one needs to change some features then one has to start from the beginning once again. This is the old method but still, it is used in different domains.
Agile Approach:
This Project Management approach is a modular approach where all phases are related to each other but each phase is independent as well. If we have 7 phases and we stuck in 4 phases and want to do some changes in the 4th Phase then no need to go for the1st Phase like the Waterfall approach. We are allowed to do those changes only in the 4th Phase. It actually saves time, money, and operational costs. Most of the industries are using this Agile approach for their better supervision and allocation of their resources.
Agile has also different flavors within their family. These are:
Scrum
Kanban
Crystal
Extreme programming(XP)
Scrum and Kanban are mostly used in Project Management but each framework has its own advantages. There is one misconception that the Agile (Project Management) approach is applied only in Software Development but it is not true. It could be applied to any industry which actually has Project Management.
Agile Project Management allows prioritized Scheduling and better resource allocation and optimization.
We understand the Agile Approach and it would be continued in the next blog.
Claps for you.
