Product vision explains the future states of the product and this would actually make one understand what problem your product tries to solve.

In order to make a million-dollar product, the first Product vision should be very clear to all team members of the organizations.

The product vision is decided and set by the stakeholders and the CEO of the company. Then it is converted to tasks along with Product Roadmaps.

Let's understand the Product Vision through one story. There were two Product Managers name "Satya" and "Ved" in XYZ Solutions. Both of them were hard-working and intelligent.

XYZ solutions solve the drinking water problem and provide the cheapest filter to clean the water. Product motto was to provide the filter which everyone can afford.

Satya was passionate about product and e was developing the product A for his company. He built one product and the product was good but it fails after certain months because it was not standing for the product vision. The filter was efficient but it was costly. This filter was accepted by only a few customers not widely.

Ved was also developing another filter as a product and he was aware of the company's product vision which is to provide the filter which everyone can afford. He made a filter

which was efficient but also affordable so that it was widely accepted by the audience.

Now, we can understand the importance of Product Vision. The product always justifies the Product Vision then only it would get success.

Product vision helps to develop a better Product Roadmap and we already know the importance of Product Roadmap. If the Product Roadmap is properly planned then the vision could be translated

into the strategy guide and a strategic guide could be translated into a smooth action plan.

Product vision must be having these characteristics:

1. Product Vision should be very clear to every team member.

2. It must be short, clear, and inspiring.

3. It should fit into the company's vision and strategy.

4. It focuses on customer and user's value and not on technology.

5. Understand the Audience appropriately before drafting the Product Vision Statement.

6. Validates incrementally and iteratively.

7. Adapt the Vision as per requirement and time.

8. Keep coining the vision often to every team member.

If we follow the above characteristics then it improves our strategic decision making throughout the development process.

Product Vision would align the stakeholders and all the teams across the company.

This would not cover the entire process for Product Vision but give you a general idea to understand what Product Vision is.
